12/05/2024 - Afternoon Tea - Runbelievable
Race Report by Emily Sayer
The run started just past The Minnis to the Reculver towers and back. One loop = 6.55 miles.
We all got ready for the adventure that was ahead of us, making sure we layered ourselves up with sun cream and had enough drinks ready to set off on our first lap.
The first lap at half 8 was nice and cool, a nice gentle lap to ease us into our target distance.
As the day went on the weather got hotter and hotter.
There were plenty of choices of cakes, savoury items and drinks to refill bottles and cups.
The second lap was better as you started to know where you was heading and points to aim for.
The third lap was mentally challenging as you know your over half way.
The fourth and final lap we was on home stretch we had the tunes on and we pushed it to the finish as much as we could.
I thoroughly enjoyed the route and the company of all the striders who attended the event seeing them on the course and encouraging one another was amazing!
We all received our medals and goodie bags at the end with plenty of snacks.
At the event we had Coasties aiming for a half marathon to a full marathon. Well done to Holly Ansell for getting her PB for a half marathon and Helen Bacon for her first ever marathon in this heat too!
Well done to all that took part on this really hot day and I hope you are all having a well deserved rest.
Thankyou to Carla Bellini, Mel Adams, Darren Sayer and Kaye Sayer for coming over to the run to support.
