Race Report by John Garcia-Rodriguez

John Garcia-Rodriguez and Clare Delf were the only Coasties. Clare’s first 10k race, nice and flat. Organised by Nice Work, whom most of us know. Parking was in a school car park, well signposted and from there a 10 minute walk to the start with the usual carnival atmosphere in the Park.

Loos were in 2 directions each about 2 minutes away, one a public toilet near St Nicholas Church the other in New Romney Day Centre. Unfortunately this was not enough (someone had taken up residence in one of the men’s) and queuers were getting anxious towards the start. New Romney, despite being a Sunday seemed open - good for coffee for our supporter, Jane, now a Coastie.

The route was predictably flat, through lanes away from the Park to the north, some open some with hedges and trees. The number of runners was about right, not too crowded and not too few.

I got 53.19, a PB and Clare got 1.20.13. Followed by a good Sunday lunch to celebrate at The Vaults in Sandgate.
